I  2021 opprettet Studieforbundet Livslang Læring 9 nye regionutvalg. Regionutvalgene  erstattet studieforbundets  tidligere regionale organiseringen, som. i hovedsak ble ivaretatt av de daværende selvstendige Folkeuniversitetsregionene. Utvalgene er oppnevnt av studieforbundets landsstyre etter innspill fra medlemsorganisasjonene. Alle regionutvalgene har representant og vararepresentant til VOFOs fylkesutvalg. I utgangspunktet kan alle medlemsorganisasjonene ha ett medlem i alle regionutvalgene, men så langt er det kun medlemsorganisasjonene Folkeuniversitetet, Norges Musikkorps Forbund, Seniornett, Soroptimistene og Acem som er representert.
